WipeOutMS.mobi
December 19, 2011
I think having content that is mobile optimized is a good idea. With my windshield repair company I’ve seen clear benefits of having information that is easily used on a smartphone. I however have been disappointed in how the dot mobi domains have fared for a number of reasons.
In keeping with the mobile optimized information, I wanted to keep information on the Oklahoma MS fundraising events also available on a smartphone, to compliment the National MS Society’s website.
Therefore on this date the information is being moved to OnCell411.tel. Doing this I think will keep information available from a smartphone and by cross marketing will help expose others to our cause. Awareness equals more donations and volunteers among other benefits in my opinion.
The mobi domain is being pointed at the new information and I hope will be back up in a few hours.
Heads Up About Prescriptions
November 23, 2011
I took a robo call on my cell phone this morning that others should be aware of. The call states my health insurance company has dropped Walgreens as of the first of the year. That after the first if I haven’t switched it indicates I won’t be able to get my drugs that I have at Walgreens. The area code is 978 which when I check online is either a cell phone or unpublished number from Massachusetts.
The first question I had was how did they get my cell phone number and how do you know I have prescriptions at Walgreens. On the prescriptions I don’t have any at Walgreens.
While I do get 1 prescription from a company in Florida, a Massachusetts connection is unknown.
The call tells you to push a button to be transferred to someone that will transfer your prescriptions. The person that answered said it was Express Scripts and rattled off several names of companies they have some connection with. One of them is Cura Script from Florida.
Conclusions: It appears my personal information has been shared. Whether Walgreens has lost the contract I don’t know. Since my insurance has made me buy the prescription from Cura Script I do plan to report this to them.
Goodbye BlogHarbor
October 30, 2011
I stated a while back that there would be a change taking place with WipeOutMS.com due to the host BlogHarbor shutting down. Well that time has come and so later today if you try to access WipeOutMS.com you may get an error message. No don’t delete the bookmark or anything as the DNS is being changed to the new host and website. If I’ve done everything right the domain should find its new path in a few hours.
Until then you can get to the new website at WipeOutMS.org.
The website is not complete but I hope to have it completed, if a website is ever done, in a few weeks.
Make sure you try the new Halloween puzzle on the “News and More” page.

Another group that helped in the creation of the “Multiple Sclerosis Center of Excellence” is the MS Bridge. They are having this fundraiser to help support Oklahomans with MS.
According to their website MS Bridge, among the functions they provide is financial support to those that can’t cover the cost of medications, even if they have insurance. I agree the cost can be staggering for some with multiple sclerosis. While there are several medications that slow the progression of the disease they cost $3500 or more per month without insurance. The new oral medication costs $48,000 per year. A quote from their website is a real life example:
“Each month I spend on average $2300 out of pocket on medications to control my symptoms. Insurance helps, but even with assistance the cost is overwhelming. The drugs and other treatments have stalled my disease and I can’t imagine my life without them. This is the only way I can function.” Lori Evans, MS Patient, MS Center of Excellence.
“The MS Bridge will have a benefit concert, Musical Moments, at 6 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Gaillardia Golf and Country Club. The event includes dinner and a special performance by jazz pianist and Steinway artist Joe Augustine.
Other performers for the evening are local physicians and pianists, Dr. Gilbert Haas, Dr. J. Spencer Thompson and the Canterbury Choral Society Octet.
The event will benefit The MS Bridge, an Oklahoma based nonprofit organization that provides assistance to Oklahomans with multiple sclerosis. MS Bridge also supports research at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation’s Multiple Sclerosis Center of Excellence.”

Looks like we now have a superhero, another way to bring awareness to our cause.
“I wanted to write about a superhero with a disability and I chose MS because it’s something that touched one of my school-friends growing up,” Millar said in a statement. “I’m acutely aware of the unexpected way the disease can strike anyone and the enormous difficulties it can cause. Superhero stories are essentially wish-fulfillment fantasies and nothing seemed more powerful to me than a little boy with a magic wish not only wanting to WALK again, but to FLY.”

Stillwater Walk MS 2011 History
October 1, 2011
It was a beautiful day at Boomer Lake in Stillwater, Oklahoma site of the Stillwater Walk MS.
Cristy in the photo above getting the walk started. She and her team of volunteers did a fantastic job of organizing and putting this event together.
I can say it was a full 3 mile walk and I’ll bet I’ll feel it for a couple of days, even though 5 days a week I’m on my feet 8 or more hours a day. The trail is generally a nice flat surface with a couple of bridges and 1 or 2 hills. The lake you could tell was down due to the drought.
The park has a nice memorial to all the branches of the military. I took some pictures with my digital camera and as soon as I get a chance I’ll post them up.
At the end we had Chik-fil-A sandwiches and other snacks. The best part was Cristy announced that most likely the goal had been made.
I would like to thank all the sponsors of the Stillwater Walk MS they include:
